— Vermont-based Merck & Co. Inc. stock fell $3.5 billion Thursday to a record low after its stock price dropped by nearly half since the start of the year.
The company’s stock, which has dropped more than 50% since the beginning of the month, closed at $40.65.
Its total market cap dropped to $60.17 billion.
Merck shares closed Thursday down 1.5% at $36.25.
Shares of Valeant Pharmaceuticals LP and Pfizer Inc. fell 3% and 6% respectively.
Shares of Valeal Pharmaceuticals NV and Valeant Pharma NV fell 3.4% and 7.5%, respectively.
The S&P 500 fell 3%, but gained 0.6%.
Shares of Pfizer dropped 6.3%.
Shares in Johnson &” Johnson &assurance dropped 5.8%.
Shares for Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. fell 5.4%.
Shares on Nasdaq fell 0.5%.
Shares fell 0,3% at the Nasdaq Composite.
